How Reliable Power Microgrids work
Reliable electricity as a service — without asking you to buy, operate or maintain the backup system.
NFE combines your existing grid connection with smart metering, batteries, solar and controls. You keep buying electricity at the applicable utility energy rate while NFE designs, finances, installs, owns and operates the infrastructure that keeps your power more reliable.
One power service. Different energy sources.
The grid remains part of the system. NFE adds and operates the local infrastructure needed to make your electricity supply more dependable, then grows that infrastructure only when the data and economics justify it.
You buy electricity
Your monthly payment is based on metered electricity consumption at the applicable utility energy rate. Reliability is built into the service rather than sold as a separate equipment project.
NFE manages the assets
We design, finance, install, monitor, maintain and replace the batteries, inverters, solar, controls and metering needed to deliver the agreed service.
The system grows with demand
We start with measurement, add the reliability you actually need, expand clean generation over time and provide an optional path to ownership later.
The RPM journey: four phases
Data → Backup → Clean energy backbone → Optional ownership

1. Measure
We begin with your utility bills and site information, then use smart metering to understand actual consumption, outages, voltage, critical loads and any generator use. For larger sites, this measurement period is typically about three months and establishes the reference monthly energy charge used in the service agreement.
Why this matters: we size the system around evidence, not guesses. That reduces unnecessary capital cost and gives both you and NFE a clear baseline for the service.
2. Make it reliable
NFE adds the battery, inverter, controls and other infrastructure required to cover the agreed outage and critical-load needs. The system switches automatically when the grid fails, while NFE remains responsible for monitoring, maintenance and equipment performance.
No large equipment purchase upfront: NFE carries the infrastructure investment and the customer pays for electricity through the service agreement.

3. Add clean generation
As demand and economics justify it, we expand solar and storage so more of your electricity is produced and managed locally. The goal is to reduce dependence on diesel backup and progressively make the local microgrid the energy backbone, with the national grid supporting it.
Growth is modular: capacity can increase as your community or facility grows instead of forcing you to fund tomorrow’s system today.
4. Own it, if you want
NFE can continue operating the microgrid as an energy service, or the customer/community can move toward ownership under the agreed Phase 4 purchase pathway. The current model allows the ownership option from year five, subject to the service agreement terms.
How the monthly payment works
The model is designed to feel like paying for electricity, not financing a battery project.
Utility-rate energy
Energy is charged at the applicable utility energy rate for your customer class. Reliability from the RPM is included in the service rather than added as a separate premium per kWh.
A measured minimum
The agreement includes a minimum monthly energy commitment equal to 50% of the reference monthly energy charge established in Phase 1. If actual metered use is higher, you pay for actual use; if it is lower, the minimum applies.
One managed service
Where the customer agrees, NFE’s preferred arrangement is to manage the existing utility bill as part of the service so grid electricity, local generation and reliability can be coordinated through one operating relationship.
What NFE takes responsibility for
NFE
Design and financing. We turn measured demand and outage needs into the right system size and finance the infrastructure during the service period.
Installation and approvals. We coordinate deployment, commissioning and the required microgrid registration.
Operations and maintenance. We monitor the system, respond to faults, maintain the equipment and replace assets when required under the service.
Customer
Share the demand data. Provide utility bills, site information and access needed to measure the real load and reliability requirement.
Use and pay for energy. Pay the monthly metered energy charge subject to the agreed minimum energy commitment.
Choose the long-term path. Continue with NFE as the operator or exercise the agreed ownership option when the project reaches that stage.
What reliability feels like
“A month and a half ago, my neighbors lost power for seven hours…and I didn’t even know. NFE had already kicked in.”
